This was my first visit to the unit since signing my contract and it was not a positive experience. I found the following: 1. Absence of trolleys at the branch when we arrived. Luckily a kind stranger lent us there's for a short period. If not, it would have involved carrying heavy boxes and increased the time spent moving my items into my unit. They also told us something very concerning - that the lack of trolleys was due to other customers keeping them in their storage units. If this practice is indeed happening, then Shurgard need to implement a system to stop this. 2. Intercom to front desk either not working or being ignored. We had to go back outside and walk around to the front desk to get the help we needed. On mentioning this to the front desk staff, they simply said that they were there 'covering' for the usual staff and didn't seem at all concerned. I had to ask them to pass this information onto the regular branch staff. Although I have no confidence that this was done. 3. Very poor signage after stepping out of the lift. I thought that my unit was on the 1st floor, however, upon stepping out of the lift on this floor I could see no signage for unit's numbered in the 3000's - only those numbers for 4000. This made me believe that I was on the wrong floor. I went back into the lift and tried the second floor but was unable to access. At this stage I realised that my unit had to be on the 1st floor and set about trying to locate it. After some wandering we managed to come across unit numbers in the 3000's and eventually found it. The lack of adequate signage in that part of the floor led to confusion and wasted time. All in all my first experience of Shurgard was far from satisfactory.

Beautiful place, but full of hiding lies. I rented a unit and was told I have 14 days to cancel to be able to get my money back. I have cancelled after one week, hopping they will work out what I have used and give me a refund, but I was told I have to give 2 weeks notice. Meaning no refund will be due at the end. What a shame.

The sales guys were excellent. They were patience and diligenent in taking myself and my wife thorough all the various options depicted being close to closing time on a Sunday and whilst our kids ran around causing havoc! Brilliant service

The T&C are not very clear, when I am emailed the Head Office the representatives were not custom to write clear answers when email was sent. All the fees and T&C were not fully disclosed neither by email neither by phone neither in person when arrived on site. I was asked to keep the unit clean the way it will be given to me instead the unit was handed over to me with pieces of polystyrene and the manager completely ignored the mess the floor was left from previous person.

I am generally pleased with the way that staff were helpful and courteous. The reason that I was not happy with the service was that I didn't feel the staff were honest enough about the current storage deals on offer and other charges that I would incur from using you. They quoted me a move-in price which was just not true. They also did not say that the space offered to me was on the second floor rather than ground floor which would entail a lot more movement from me.
