Signing document was the most manual, paper intensive process I’ve come across this decade. Staff did their best but given no technology to make process easier.

Appalling lack of trolleys which I will be resporting to the relevant government Health & Safety agencies.

When providing the feedback to staff on trolleys, one particular staff member had an appalling attitude. Staff seem to have poor morale and no customer service training.

Hello, we are sorry to read you felt there was too much paperwork. At Shurgard we do try to keep the administrative side of renting a storage unit as easy as possible. Nevertheless we find it important to thoroughly go through the contract and the Terms & Conditions with our customers. On our website we also explain why the whole move-in process takes about 15-30 minutes. \nWe have trolleys at the disposal of our customers to make loading and unloading as easy as possible, but sometimes during peak moving times there can be more demand than available trolleys. From reservation online to talking to someone regarding the booking to seeing the storage space things just flawed. Good staff who explained everything well. Happy with my decision to use Shurgard. Would recommend especially the Burnt Oak branch in London

Overall, a good service

People were very helpful over the phone when I was looking for quotes. However there were a few issues. The first was that I had been advised by my moving surveyor as to how much space I needed for the storage, but the shurgard person on the phone insisted that I give them a list of my furniture so that they could advise me on the correct size. They then advised me to get a much larger unit. I am glad that I insisted on sticking with my original size as everything fit easily and the larger one would have been a waste of my money. The second issue was that I directly asked if I would need to purchase a padlock and was told that this was all included, then when I went to sign my contract and get access to my unit I was told that I would have to pay extra for a lock.
On the day of signing my contract, the office was very busy, but the employee in the office was very helpful, and apologised that I had to wait a while to be served, which is all I can really ask for as I could see that she was working very hard.
The unit itself is well laid out with a large door, making it easy to get everything in and out. One small thing - the lift door closes quite quickly if you taking things in and out and there is no way to keep it open whilst you are loading/unloading it.
