  • Storage FAQs

    • Use our search feature to find the Shurgard store that is most convenient for you – near your home, work or in between. Use our storage size estimator to choose a unit that is just the right size and the right price. Then fill in the reservation form, whereby you can lock in your price and any promotion that may be applicable. There is no cost and no obligation. You can later change your mind and choose another storage unit size. To sign the contract you can come to your selected Shurgard store or we can also arrange your contract over the phone.
    • Our standard sizes range from 10 to 500 square feet and are up to 10 feet high (all dimensions are approximate), but many facilities also offer smaller and larger spaces, from storage lockers to extra-large units. Use our size estimator to find the right amount of space for you; you can always measure your unit at the store for suitability.
    • You may purchase a new, sealed lock at any Shurgard store. No one else has a key to that lock – just you. Your personal Shurgard lock can be re-used the next time you use a Shurgard storage unit.
    • Indoor units are protected from the elements and have broad hallways (and elevators in multi-story facilities). Outdoor units are usually on one level and offer the convenience of drive-up access.

    • All our stores are monitored by security cameras placed in strategic locations. You are the only one with access to your unit, which is locked with a specifically designed lock owned by you. You use a personal electronic access code to access the premises, your code only allows access to the floor where your unit is located.
    • There is no minumum rental period. You can store for as little as one day and for as long as you want, there is no maximum rental period. Contracts are automatically renewed on a monthly basis.
    • Our rental contracts are month-to-month agreements; no long-term lease is required.
    • Yes, just two weeks prior to the actual move out date. Notice must be given in writing – either by e-mail, post or fax.

    • At all Shurgard stores, you have free access 7 days a week. 24 hour access is provided at most stores; your store manager will be able to confirm arrangements for your local store.
    • During access hours, you can use your access code to access your storage unit. During office hours, your store manager is available to provide in-person customer service (like answering questions, selling supplies, accepting rental payments and so on).
    • When you rent from Shurgard, you can allow access for other people you specify (or restrict access only to yourself).
    • As your requirements change, you are welcome to move to another room at any time at no extra cost.
    • Call your Shurgard store manager for assistance during regular office hours.
    • You are responsible for the things you are storing at Shurgard and insurance for your stored belongings is required. You may be covered under an insurance policy you already have. Affordable storage insurance is available at any Shurgard store.
    • This is what we will need to complete the contract:

      • For private rent: a valid photo ID
      • For business rent: evidence of link with the company (i.e: business card)

    • Yes. You are welcome to use our trolleys while you are at Shurgard for free.
    • You are welcome to walk into any Shurgard store and rent in person. Or you can call us for free at 0800 368 0420 to ask questions or reserve by telephone.

       

    • This offer is valid on your first month's rent, no minimum stay is required. Valid for new customers only, selected units only. Excludes costs of lock, insurance and administration fee. Contact your local store for more details.
    • You will need to ensure notice is received at least 2 weeks in advance of your actual move out date. Notice must be given in writing – either by e-mail, post, fax or in-store. The notice must contain your name, your unit number and the date your notice is given. On completion of your move out, a cheque refund will be processed within 20 days for the initial deposit, if applicable, along with any rental payment that is not used.

       

    • Book your unit online and save up to 15%  discount on your monthly rent. This promotion can be combined with the £1 promotion. In this case you will benefit from the £1 promotion on your first month's rent and then 15% discount on your next 2 months.  Winter Prices apply to contracts signed before 1 March 2012.
  • Invoice FAQs

    • Shurgard offers three convenient ways to pay: 

      • Choose direct debit or credit/debit card autopay: enroll in person at any Shurgard store – the rest is up to us. We will automatically debit your bank account or charge your credit card for your monthly bills.
      • Pay over the telephone: pay your bill by calling your Shurgard facility with credit/debit card details.
      • Pay at any one of 22 Shurgard locations in the UK: walk into any Shurgard facility and give the store manager your account number and the location where you store. Then pay your bill with cash or credit/debit card. Use our store locator to find a Shurgard facility near you.

      Initial payment can be made by credit or debit card, and cash. Once you have become a customer, you can also create your personal account on MyShurgard and pay your bills online (only by VISA and Mastercard).

    • We are able to accept cash, cheque, debit cards (Visa Electron cards are in-store only), Mastercard and Visa credit cards. Unfortunately we are unable to accept American Express cards.
