• • How secure are my belongings?

    Shurgard has many security measures in place to protect your belongings. As a member the Self Storage Association (SSA UK) we comply with all industry security requirements.

  • What security measures do you have in place?

    Stores are protected by physical measures including fencing, sensor lighting, barbed and razor wire and all stores are covered by strategically-placed CCTV. Personal access codes are needed to enter and exit our facility. Our customers have sole access to their unit, which is locked with a specifically designed cylinder lock and the customer is the only person with the key.

  • How have you improved security recently?

    We constantly review and update our security provision and have instigated a plan to make some changes. We have improved lighting and replaced and increased the height of fencing at certain locations, adding additional barbed and razor wire in key areas to deter vandalism. We have decided to change our 24 hour access policy. Customers will have to specifically request out of hours access to their units by contacting our store teams. Alarm systems are being reviewed and upgraded where appropriate. We are also executing a programme of reviewing and upgrading the quality of doors and latches.

  • Who has access to a storage facility?
    Access to our facilities is strictly controlled. All entrance and exit to each facility is only possible with a unique personal PIN code. The access code only allows access to the area where your unit is located.
  • Why do I need insurance on my stored goods?
    You are responsible for the things you are storing at Shurgard and insurance for your stored belongings is required. You may be covered under an insurance policy you already have or your store staff can recommend an insurance provider.
  • What is secure self-storage?
    As a member of the Self Storage Association (SSA UK) we comply with all industry practices regarding security and we continually review and update our security management systems. Sites are protected by physical measures which include fencing, lighting, barbed and razor wire. We also implement strict access control as you need a pin code to enter and exit our facilities. Units are locked with a specifically designed lock which is owned and kept by the customer. We have CCTV in strategic locations across all sites.
